Climate or Culture?
Updated: Aug 20, 2022
Did you change your climate or culture or neither? What's the difference? Have you ever heard it said, "as the wind blows, so goes the weather."? Climate changes daily, sometimes hourly, depending on where you live. Do you want your climate to change or do you want your culture to change?
Culture takes a while to change. HOW LONG? As long as it takes. That's determined by who you are as a leader and who they are as a team. How long does it last? As long as you are willing to commit to it.
How do you change the climate of an organization? You bring in a speaker for the day and everyone listens and and laughs along for the day and when they are gone so is their message.

How do you change a culture? You bring in a process and everyone gets consistently coached up day in and day out and you consistently grow and and change daily into powerfully productive owners of a culture that permeates every fiber of who you are. The New England Patriots have a "winning culture", so do the Tennessee Titans and the Golden State Warriors, so does Apple and Amazon.

How long does that take? As long as it takes! Changing a culture is at the core of who you are and why you are. When you change your culture you gain respect from your own team and all of your competition. Culture is recognized.
You may have a climate change for a day, a week, a month or even longer. If you want to change the culture, it's an all the time thing, not a sometime thing. Winning is not a sometime thing, it's an all the time thing. Climate is a sometime thing, the wind blows in and blows by. Culture is an all the time thing, it's here to stay. NOW ask yourself, what do you want? And what are you willing to sacrifice to get what you want?
